Tennis Team Members Earn Academic Honor

Three members of the Arkansas Tech University tennis program have earned a spot on the 2011-12 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II Women’s Scholar Athlete team.

Maria Aleman of San Cristobal, Venezuela (photographed, top left), Allison Grahl of Fort Smith (photographed, top right) and Nina Greenway of Monticello (photographed, bottom middle) all earned a spot on the honor squad.

The ITA NCAA Division II Women’s Scholar Athlete team recognizes varsity letter winners with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Honorees must have been enrolled at their current school for two or more semesters.

Greenway earned an ITA scholar athlete award for a second consecutive year. A nursing major, she has a 3.91 grade point average.

It was the first ITA scholar athlete award for both Aleman and Grahl.

Aleman has a 3.70 grade point average while majoring in mechanical engineering. Grahl finished the 2011-12 academic year undeclared as to her major field of study and in possession of a 3.68 grade point average.

Greenway and Aleman will be seniors in 2012-13. Grahl will be a sophomore during the upcoming academic year.
