Tennis Suns Advance to GAC Final

Arkansas Tech University has reached the championship match of the Great American Conference Tournament in women’s tennis for the fourth time in the five-year history of the league.

The Golden Suns (11-12) defeated East Central University 5-1 in the GAC Tournament semifinal round at the Memorial Park Tennis Complex in Bentonville on Friday.

With the win, Arkansas Tech advances to face top-seeded Southeastern Oklahoma State University (12-3) in the GAC Tournament championship match at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Golden Suns won the GAC Tournament title in 2012 and finished as runner-up in 2013 and 2014. Southeastern Oklahoma State is making its first appearance in the GAC Tournament final.
