Tech’s Piddon Wins UCO RCB Bank Classic

Arkansas Tech University junior Peerada Piddon fired a final-round 4-under par 67 on Tuesday to win the individual title at the University of Central Oklahoma RCB Bank Classic at the Golf Club of Edmond in Edmond, Okla.

Piddon completed the 36-hole tournament with a 3-under par total of 139, two strokes better than runner-up Shi Qing Ong of Missouri Western State University.

It is the first tournament victory of Piddon’s ATU career. She has finished in the top seven of all four tournaments since joining the Golden Suns golf program this fall.

Arkansas Tech finished third among 15 teams at the UCO RCB Bank Classic. The Suns compiled a 36-hole total of 604. Tournament host Central Oklahoma took the team title with a 585 total.

In addition to Piddon, Holly Standing (T-14th, 71-80-151), Pia Nunbhakdi (T-27th, 80-75-155), Avery Struck (T-40th, 81-78-159) and Allie Weiner (T-56th, 82-82-164) also contributed to Tech’s team score.

ATU’s Makenzie Douglas (T-33rd, 79-78-157) competed as an individual.

The Golden Suns will conclude the fall portion of their 2017-18 golf schedule by participating in the University of Central Missouri Invitational on Monday, Oct. 9, and Tuesday, Oct. 10.
