TeCHange Teaches Freshmen About Giving Back

TeCHange, a program designed to show incoming freshmen the value of supporting Arkansas Tech, is beginning its second year this fall.

Tech freshmen can pick up a coin bank and learn more information at various campus activities and events.

Students will be asked to put their spare change in their coin banks, and the Arkansas Tech Development Office has organized monthly “round-ups” to collect the funds.

Here is a list of Round Up dates:

Saturday, Sept. 15, 4-6 p.m. at the Plaza Party

Wednesday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Courtyard

Wednesday, Nov. 9, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Courtyard

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Courtyard

Wednesday, March 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Courtyard

Wednesday, April 11, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Doc Bryan Courtyard

Drop off is also available at the Alumni House from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on week days.

The money collected will be added to the TeCHange scholarship fund to provide merit-based book scholarships to returning students. The more change collected, the more scholarships will be given.

The deadline to apply for the TeCHange scholarship is Thursday, March 15, 2012. Applications can be found at www.atu.edu/givetotech.

“From this simple act of donating their spare change, we hope students understand that a little bit of change goes a long way in helping others,” said Kristin Smith, major gift development officer at Arkansas Tech. “Giving to your university with small contributions adds up quickly.”
