Arkansas Tech University’s Department of History and Political Science is honoring the signing of the United Sates Constitution with several events.
This morning, Tech students will travel to Russellville Junior High School to give an in-depth lesson on the Constitution to RJHS 9th grade classes.
On the Arkansas Tech University Russellville campus, there will be a public reading of the U.S. Constitution in the Rotunda of the Doc Bryan Student Services Building. Readers include Lt. Governor Mark Darr, Russellville Mayor Bill Eaton, Russellville Alderman Irwin Martin, Arkansas Tech professors Dr. John Watson and Dr. David Underwood and Arkansas Tech students.
At noon there will also be constitution quizzes and other activities for Tech students at Chambers Cafeteria and the Baswell Techionery. These activities will later be moved to the North entrance of Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center from 2-4 p.m. Prizes will be available to those who complete quizzes.
Organizers encourage members of the Tech community to support Constitution Day as a way to continue the legacy of those who changed the course of history and helped develop habits of citizenship.
