Tech to Celebrate Basketball Heritage Feb. 13

Combined, the men’s and women’s basketball programs at Arkansas Tech University have accumulated more than 1,900 wins, captured 35 regular season conference championships and provided thousands of fans with lifelong memories.

On Saturday, Feb. 13, Arkansas Tech will honor the people who made it all possible with an event entitled “Centennial Celebration of Tech Basketball.”

All former coaches, student-athletes, trainers and other personnel associated with Arkansas Tech basketball are invited to a reunion that will include a luncheon and recognition at that evening’s basketball games.

The luncheon for the basketball reunion participants, their families and their friends will begin in Chambers Cafeteria East Dining Hall at noon on Saturday, Feb. 13.

Cost for the luncheon will be $15. Call (479) 968-0332 to make reservations.

Tech fans will have an opportunity to show their appreciation for the university’s basketball legends when the Golden Suns and the Wonder Boys host Harding University for a Gulf South Conference doubleheader at Tucker Coliseum that night.

The women’s game will start at 4 p.m., while the men’s contest will follow at 6 p.m. Reunion participants will be recognized during the games.

“This reunion weekend will mark the greatest collection of basketball talent and knowledge in the 100-year history of Arkansas Tech University,” said Julie Morgan, assistant to the president and on-campus coordinator of the Tech Centennial. “We hope that members of the Tech family and our community will pack Tucker Coliseum on Feb. 13 to cheer on the outstanding teams we have this year and honor the basketball greats from our past.”

Tickets will be available at the gate beginning at 3 p.m. on game day.
