Tech Students to Celebrate Homecoming 2014

Arkansas Tech University students will celebrate Homecoming 2014 with a week of activities on campus. The festivities begin on Monday, October 27 and will run through Saturday, November 1. “Tame the Tigers” is the theme for the 2014 Homecoming, as Arkansas Tech will face the East Central University Tigers. Throughout the week, those taking part in Homecoming events are encouraged to use the hashtag #atuhomecoming. The events taking place as part of Homecoming Week 2014 include: Monday – Homecoming Pep Rally

  • 9 p.m. at Thone Stadium
  • Announcement of Homecoming Court and voting instructions
  • Spirit competition for student organizations
Tuesday – Tech Idol Preliminaries
  • 9 p.m. at Witherspoon Auditorium
  • Musical competition preliminary round for Tech Idol title and cash prize
  • Hosted by RHA
  • Learn more about Tech Idol
Wednesday – Party at the Tower
  • 5 p.m. at Hindsman Tower
  • Event includes free food, games, music, give-a-ways and a zip-line
  • Free for students with a Tech Identification Card
Thursday – Tech Idol Finals
  • 9 p.m. at Witherspoon Auditorium
  • Musical competition finals for Tech Idol title and cash prize
  • Hosted by RHA
Friday – Homecoming Parade
  • 7:30 p.m. through campus
  • Access the complete parade route
  • Features a variety of campus groups including the Tech Spirit Squads, the marching band and several floats
Friday – Halloween Party
  • 9 p.m. at Baz-Tech
  • Hosted by SAB
Saturday – Party at the Plaza
  • Noon – 3 p.m. at Centennial Plaza
  • A tailgate meal will be available for purchase or for those with a meal plan
  • Inflatables, photo booth and music will be available at no cost

Saturday – Pregame Festivities and Wonder Boys Football
  • Festivities begin at 2:30 p.m. at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field
  • Tech honoring senior football players
  • Crowning of the 2014 Homecoming Queen
  • Watch the Wonder Boys battle East Central University at 3 p.m.
  • Game tickets are free with a valid Tech Identification Card
