Tech Students Named Governor’s Cup Finalists

Five Arkansas Tech University students have qualified for the innovation division finals of the 2016 Donald W. Reynolds Governor’s Cup collegiate business plan competition.

Senior management and marketing majors Jacy Allen, Nicholas Colet and Dylan Edgell, all of Pottsville, as well as senior electrical engineering major Logan Geurian of Dardanelle and junior management and marketing major Skylar Combs of Bryant developed a business plan called VIR Technologies.

Their project explores the possibilities of utilizing USB functionality to analyze electrical systems, especially as it relates to the communication industry.

The Arkansas Tech team will make an oral presentation of its business plan before a panel of judges at the Little Rock Marriott conference center on Thursday, March 31.

Competition winners will be announced at the Governor’s Cup awards luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in the Wally Allen Ballroom of the Statehouse Convention Center. Arkansas Capital Corp. of Little Rock and its affiliate, the Arkansas Economic Acceleration Foundation, are the presenters of the statewide business plan competition.
