Tech Students Participate in Tony Bowls Photo Shoot

Three young women from Arkansas Tech had a unique opportunity to participate in a photo shoot for designer Tony Bowls, and photos are up for online voting to begin.

Polls have opened for the public to vote for their favorite Miss Arkansas contestant to win the 2011 Tony Bowls/Mon Cheri People’s Choice Award.

The contestant who garners the most votes will receive a scholarship during the Miss Arkansas finals in Hot Springs on Saturday, July 16.

The three girls from Arkansas Tech in the running are Miss Tech, Brandi Cromer, Miss Western Arkansas, Savanna Knight, and Miss Ozark Highlands, Lindsey Ahrens.

In May, Tony Bowls hosted the 46 contestants for a photo shoot. Each girl was treated to high fashion photography and professional hair and makeup, and styling by Tony Bowls.

The photos are available on the Miss Arkansas website. Each vote costs $1 and proceeds benefit scholarships from the Miss Arkansas Organization.

Additionally, each contestant will receive several gifts, including a Tony Bowls cocktail dress, two pair of shoes from Tony Bowls for Frederico Leone, and jewelry from Tony Bowls Accessories for Sassy South.

Officials say they are thrilled he and the companies he works with are giving back to Bowls’ home state of Arkansas in such a special way.

Bowls has designed for many familiar faces, including American Idol finalist Lauren Alaina, Twilight’s Ashley Green, Vanna White, and Miss Arkansas Alyse Eady.

For people interested in attending the pageant, tickets are available on ticketmaster.com and available for purchase at the Summit Arena box office.

Miss Arkansas is an official preliminary to the Miss America pageant. The current Miss Arkansas is Alyse Eady from Fort Smith, who placed first runner up at the Miss America Pageant in January.
