Tech Softball Wins Two, Loses Two

Game 1: Tech 5, ECU 4 Ashton Long’s RBI single in the top of the ninth inning propelled Arkansas Tech to a 5-4 victory over East Central on Friday afternoon. Ashley Keen came home with the go-ahead run on Long’s base hit, and Golden Suns starting pitcher Victoria Huie pitched around a two-out single to strand the tying run on base and preserve the victory in the bottom of the ninth. Huie struck out six over nine innings of work. Whitney Robinson, Siarra Gomez, and Keen had two hits apiece. Game 2: ECU 8, Tech 2 Leah Tigert went 2-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in to lead East Central to an 8-2 win over Arkansas Tech in Friday’s second game. Huie and Keen had two hits apiece in a losing effort for the Golden Suns. ECU starting pitcher Brianna Nunley limited Tech to two runs on seven hits over seven innings. Game 3: ECU 11, Tech 3 East Central rapped out 14 base hits in a mercy-rule shortened 11-3 triumph over Arkansas Tech on Saturday afternoon. Tigert was 5-for-5 with four RBIs for the Lady Tigers. ECU’s Autumn Suydam was 4-for-4 with two runs scored. Pitcher Nicole Nordie earned the win by providing the Lady Tigers with four shutout innings of relief work. Game 4: Tech 13, ECU 0 Shutout pitching by Sydnee Clark helped Arkansas Tech post a mercy-rule shortened 13-0 victory over East Central in the series finale on Saturday. Clark allowed just two hits and struck out four over five innings. Shanna Davidson was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Keen was 1-for-3 with three RBIs for the Golden Suns.]]>
