Tech Places Five on Volleyball All-GAC Team

Arkansas Tech University has four representatives on the 2012 All-Great American Conference volleyball first team and one player who earned All-GAC honorable mention honors.

Arkansas Tech University has four representatives on the 2012 All-Great American Conference volleyball first team and one player who earned All-GAC honorable mention honors.

The league office announced its 2012 postseason volleyball awards on Wednesday, Nov. 14. The all-conference teams were selected by a vote of the 11 GAC head volleyball coaches.

This was the second season for the GAC, which was accepted by the NCAA as the 23rd NCAA Division II conference on March 9, 2011.

Arkansas Tech student-athletes named to the 2012 All-GAC volleyball team are:

  • Senior Carly Florian of Wilmington, Ill.; first team All-GAC, outside hitter
  • Senior Brittany Ryan of Mena; first team All-GAC, middle blocker
  • Junior Amber Cerrillos of Michigan City, Ind.; first team All-GAC, setter
  • Junior Sara Motsinger of Normal, Ill.; first team All-GAC, middle blocker
  • Sophomore Kaitlyn White of Hideaway, Texas; honorable mention All-GAC, outside hitter

The Golden Suns finished the regular season with an overall record of 25-9 and a GAC mark of 11-3.

Arkansas Tech will compete in the GAC Volleyball Tournament Nov. 15-17 in Searcy as the No. 2 seed.
