Tech Offense Shines in Sweep of ECU

Game One: Tech 13, ECU 6 Bryan Heward went 3-for-5 with a home run, three runs batted in and two runs scored to lead Arkansas Tech to a 13-6 win over East Central in Sunday’s first game. Mark Vaughn, Collin O’Neil and Cole Fergus added two RBIs apiece for the Wonder Boys. Tech starting pitcher Cody Jones (4-1) earned the win on the mound. He allowed six runs, five of which were earned, on six hits over six and two-thirds innings. ECU reliever Quentin McGrath (0-1) was saddled with the loss. He allowed three runs, two of which were earned, while laboring for two and one-third innings. Game Two: Tech 14, ECU 6 Arkansas Tech blasted four home runs in a 14-6 defeat of East Central in the nightcap. Caleb McKinnon, Kris Ayers, Patrick Castleberry and Fergus all homered for the Wonder Boys. McKinnon drove in four runs in all during game two, while Fergus had three RBIs. Ayers, Castleberry and O’Neil notched two RBIs apiece. The official scorer named Tech’s Trent Armstrong (2-1) the winning pitcher. He allowed three runs on six hits in three innings. ECU’s Cam McKay (3-3) was the losing pitcher. He started and allowed four runs on three hits in one inning.]]>
