Tech Men Ranked 15th Entering NCAA Tourney

Arkansas Tech University will enter the NCAA Division II Tournament ranked No. 15 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II men’s basketball top 25 poll.

The Wonder Boys (24-5) moved up six spots in the poll after they won the Great American Conference Tournament championship over the weekend.

Arkansas Tech defeated Southern Arkansas, Ouachita Baptist and Southwestern Oklahoma State on its way to the tournament crown.

With their ranking this week, the Wonder Boys have been included in 35 of the 45 NABC NCAA Division II top 25 men’s basketball polls since the beginning of the 2009-10 season. Arkansas Tech has a cumulative overall won-lost record of 79-13 over that three-year span.

The Wonder Boys have won three consecutive regular season conference championships and three conference tournament titles in the last four years.

Arkansas Tech is the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Division II Tournament South Central Regional, which will begin on Saturday, March 10, in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The Wonder Boys will face sixth-seeded West Texas A&M (19-8) in a first-round NCAA Tournament game at noon on Saturday. Radio station KWKK 100.9 FM will have the broadcast in the Arkansas River Valley. The broadcast can be heard over the Internet at www.athletics.atu.edu.
