Tech Men Knocking on Door of Top 25

Arkansas Tech received 12 points in voting for the National Association of Basketball Coaches NCAA Division II men’s basketball top 25 poll this week.

The Wonder Boys (12-3 overall, 3-0 Gulf South Conference) fell just three points shy of landing a spot in the top 25.

Arkansas Tech was ranked No. 13 in the 2010-11 preseason national poll for men’s basketball, and the Wonder Boys held a spot in the poll for 18 consecutive voting periods from the beginning of the 2009-10 season until Dec. 7, 2010.

Tech’s men recaptured the eyes of national voters by defeating then 14th-ranked Christian Brothers 59-45 in Memphis, Tenn., on Thursday, Jan. 13.

The Wonder Boys followed that win with an 85-82 home victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Saturday. It was the sixth consecutive win for Tech’s men, who share first place in the GSC West Division with Harding University.

Harding (13-2, 3-0) is ranked 22nd in this week’s NABC NCAA Division II poll. No. 7 Alabama-Huntsville and No. 19 Christian Brothers also represent the GSC in the latest top 25.
