TECH Knowledge Session a Success

Entering freshmen were at Arkansas Tech last week for the first overnight TECH Knowledge session.  The students spent two days on the Tech campus for an orientation session where they learned all about the university.

During the session, the students learned about campus services, study skills and tips and Arkansas Tech traditions.

As part of the session, the students also had the opportunity to spend the night in one of the residence halls on the campus.

Jaime Martin, coordinator of orientation, says the students enjoyed staying in the residence halls.  She added, “The students had a great time at the session, and they enjoyed getting to stay in Baswell Hall.  I believe the overnight sessions help students better understand what life is like in a residence hall.”

Additionally, students attending the overnight sessions also had the opportunity to register for their fall classes.

“The Academic Advising Center has been great to help us with this concept,” adds Martin.  By starting the session later in the day and ending mid-morning the next day, students will have the opportunity to register for courses prior to TECH Knowledge or after it wraps up.  Ultimately, this helps students because they’re not required to make multiple trips to campus.”

The TECH Knowledge sessions cost $25, and the fee includes an orientation t-shirt, meals, orientation materials and admission to a separate orientation for parents.

There are four remaining TECH Knowledge sessions throughout the summer.  Register to attend a TECH Knowledge session.
