Since the start of the 2013 calendar year, the Golden Suns have only been defeated in regulation once. Arkansas Tech is 10-0 at home this season and has won 16 consecutive women’s basketball games at Tucker Coliseum. The defending Great American Conference champion Golden Suns are in first place in the GAC standings with four regular season games remaining, three of which are at home. The Wonder Boys have won four consecutive games, three of which have been decided by three points or less. Willie Kirkland scored a career-high 31 points and made the game-winning layup with 1.3 seconds left at Henderson State on Saturday. He was named GAC men’s basketball player of the week. Arkansas Tech ranks second in the GAC and eighth nationally in field goal percentage defense (.391). About the Boll Weevils: Arkansas-Monticello used suffocating defense to defeat Arkansas Tech 56-49 in the first men’s basketball meeting of the season between the two programs on Jan. 17 in Monticello. The Boll Weevils forced the Wonder Boys into a season-high 25 turnovers. UAM leads the GAC and ranks ninth in NCAA Division II in scoring defense (59.9 points allowed per game).
