Tech Helps In the Fight Against Heart Disease

Arkansas Tech University personnel are making a difference in the fight against heart disease.

For the fifth consecutive year, Arkansas Tech University hosted the American Heart Association’s River Valley Heart Walk this past Saturday.

Several resident assistants, resident directors and other Tech personnel volunteered throughout the morning to help in various capacities throughout the walk.

Kevin Solomon, assistant director of housing, says he appreciates the support of the Tech community.  He added, “I was very pleased with the leaders in our department for their willingness to come out and support such a great cause.”

In addition to participating in the walk, there were several health screenings and a special area for kids as part of the event.

Heart disease is the number one killer of people in America. In all, there are more than 450 Heart Walks each year raising awareness and money to combat heart disease.
