Tech Graduate Joins U.S. Army

One Arkansas Tech student is one of the newest members of the United States Army.  Brandon Faircloth commissioned Saturday afternoon in between commencement ceremonies.

Faircloth joins the United States Army at the rank of Second Lieutenant following the ceremony in the Doc Bryan Student Services Lecture Hall.

Retired Lieutenant Colonel Ron Bell served as the keynote speaker during Saturday’s ceremony.  Bell, a lifelong mentor to Faircloth, told those in attendance that he recognized qualities of a “great leader” in Faircloth years ago.  He added, “Having known Brandon for years, I recognized early on he would do great things.  He displayed several leadership qualities at an early age.”

Upon commissioning, Faircloth will remain in the area as a Gold Bar recruiter until reassignment to San Antonio, Texas.  Once he’s reassigned to Texas, he will serve as a nurse at the Brooke Army Medical Center.

Faircloth also received his nursing pin Friday evening during a pinning ceremony in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall.
