Seven students with Arkansas Tech University ties are among the 42 contestants taking the stage Wednesday evening in hopes of becoming Miss Arkansas.
The students taking part include (from left to right):
- Carleigh Tackett – Miss Diamond Lakes
- McCartney Drouin – Miss Ozark Mountain
- Haven Brock – Miss Greater Little Rock
- Carly Copeland – Miss Arkansas Tech University
- Brooklyn Woodworth – Miss Ozark Highlands
- Hannah Hatchett – Miss Johnson County
- Logan Moore – Miss Western Arkansas
Preliminary competition will take place Wednesday through Friday evening. During the preliminary phases, the contestants will be divided into groups, and each group will compete in a different round of the competition.
Haven Brock, Logan Moore and Hannah Hatchett are part of Group A. They will open the competition with their talent performances on Wednesday. Brock will offer a vocal performance to “Don’t Rain on My Parade. Moore will offer a flute solo of “Patriotic Melody,” while Hatchett will perform a jazz dance to the song “Dear Future Husband.” The group will take part in the swimsuit competition on Thursday, and they will participate in the evening gown competition Friday evening.
Tech student Carleigh Tackett is in Group B. She will open the competition modeling her evening gown. On Thursday, she will compete in the talent competition with a jazz dance to the tune “Raise You Up.” Friday evening, she will compete in the swimsuit competition.
Students Carly Copeland, McCartney Drouin and Brooklyn Woodworth are part of Group C. They will begin the competition with the swimsuit competition, and they will participate in the evening gown competition on Thursday. Friday evening, the group will present their talents. Copeland will offer a vocal performance of “Ain’t No Sunshine,” while Drouin will offer her vocal rendition of “Feeling Good.” Woodworth will present an instrumental version of “Piano Fantasy for her talent.”
The top 15 will be announced Saturday, and the top 10 will compete in swimsuit, talent and evening gown before crowning a new Miss Arkansas.
Miss Arkansas is an official preliminary to the Miss America pageant.
