Tech Baseball Stays Unbeaten in GAC

Learn about special promotions for Tech students at that game planned by the Office of Student Services. Game One: Tech 9, ECU 2 Starting pitcher Ryan Taylor limited East Central to two runs on three hits over eight innings to lead Arkansas Tech to a 9-2 win over the Tigers on Friday. Taylor (3-1) struck out three and walked one. He faced just two batters over the minimum during his eight innings of work. Cesar Abreu, James Sharp and Jonathan Finnegan had two hits apiece for the Wonder Boys. Abreu, Sharp and Zac Johnson recorded two runs batted in each. Game Two: Tech 8, ECU 4 Finnegan’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning put Arkansas Tech in front for good in an 8-4 extra-innings victory over East Central on Saturday. The Wonder Boys went on to score four runs in the top of the 11th on two hits and two ECU errors. Tech’s Boone Weiss (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. Abreu, Cole Fergus, Thomas Biocic and Zac Johnson all had two hits for the Wonder Boys. Jay Johnson’s pinch-hit, two-RBI single for the Wonder Boys in the top of the eighth inning tied the score at 4-4. Game Three: Tech 5, ECU 3 Arkansas Tech scored the first five runs of the game and then held on for a 5-3 victory over East Central in the series finale on Saturday. Sharp was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Fergus went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Jake Bell (3-1) was the winning pitcher after he allowed two runs on four hits over six innings. Ethan Crocker recorded the final three outs for his first save of the season.  ]]>
