Members of the Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band will share their musical talents with musicians from across the south as part of the South Central Regional Music Conference this spring.

The conference is scheduled for February 24-26, in Monroe, Louisiana, and it attracts musicians from Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.  In all, more than 2,500 musicians are expected to attend.

As part of the festival, the Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band will premiere an original work commissioned especially for the conference.

The jazz piece will feature saxophonist Lou Marini, who was one of the original members of the Saturday Night Live Band.

The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band is made up of 68 undergraduate students at Arkansas Tech, and the group has played guest performances at musical organizations and conferences across the country.

The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Band is under the direction of Mr. Hal Cooper.
