Tech Alumna Joins Chamber Staff

Arkansas Tech University alumna Megan Binkley Toland is jumping directly into the deep end in her new role as marketing director for the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Toland joined the Chamber of Commerce staff on July 5, which meant that she had less than a month to prepare herself for one of the organization’s biggest events of the year — the Business Expo, which is being held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today (Tuesday, Aug. 2) at Tucker Coliseum.

“It’s been great to be able to dive right in,” said Toland (photographed, right) as she prepared for the Business Expo on the floor of the coliseum on Tuesday morning. “I’ve joked that I started too late to be of much help with this event this year, but the event will give me a great chance to meet many of our members all in one place. I look forward to being more hands-on in the preparation for the Business Expo next year.”

Toland holds two degrees from Arkansas Tech. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in 2006 and added a Master of Arts degree in multimedia journalism in 2008.

According to a news release from the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce, Toland’s duties as marketing director will include marketing Chamber events and programs to new and existing Chamber members. She will also market members through Chamber sponsored events and programs.

Toland previously served as program coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Central Arkansas.

“We are extremely pleased to have Megan join our team at the Chamber,” said Jeff Pipkin, president of the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce, in the news release. “Her experience, personality and professionalism will be tremendous assets for our Chamber members and the community.”
