Tech Alum Named Interim Dean at U of A

Arkansas Tech University alumna Dr. Pauline Rankin was named interim dean of the School of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach for the University of Arkansas Global Campus on Friday, July 2.

According to a news release from the University of Arkansas, Rankin will serve as interim dean through June 30, 2011. She will focus on assisting Sharon Gaber, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs, in a review and assessment of the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

Rankin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Arkansas Tech.

She went on to earn a Master of Education degree in elementary education from the University of Arkansas and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in educational technology with a minor in library science from Louisiana State University.

Rankin worked on the faculty and in the administration at Louisiana State University for 30 years. She served LSU as associate vice chancellor for instruction (1999-2001), vice provost for academic affairs (2001-03) and dean of the Division of Continuing Education (2003-06).

She joined the University of Arkansas Global Campus in December 2009 as its director of non-traditional and adult programs.
