Tech Alum Named Dean at UT Dallas

Dr. Gene Fitch Jr., who holds two degrees from Arkansas Tech University, has been named the next dean of students at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Fitch will assume his new duties in August. He is currently the associate vice president of student affairs and dean of student life at Middle Tennessee State University.

“To work directly with students on a regular basis, and hopefully impact them in a way that positively changes their lives and careers and empowers them to be leaders, is a rewarding job,” said Fitch in a news release from UT Dallas.  “For those reasons, I’m very much looking forward to joining UT Dallas as dean of students.”

Fitch graduated from Arkansas Tech in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. He earned a master’s degree in physical education from Arkansas Tech in 1989, and he went on to add a Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Arkansas in 1997.
