Symphonic Wind Ensemble Concert Sunday

The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will present a concert entitled “Inspired by the Orchestra” on Sunday, Nov. 20.

The performance will begin at 2:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium, which is located at 407 West Q Street in Russellville. Admission will be free and open to the public.

Pieces scheduled for performance include “Medea’s Dance of the Vengeance” by Samuel Barber, “Apollo” by Brian Balmages and “Pictures at an Exhibition” by Modest Moussorgsky.

The ensemble’s performance of “Apollo” will feature a solo by senior Patrice Brown of Bentonville, principal saxophonist.

The Arkansas Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble is a 59-piece performance group directed by Dr. Daniel A. Belongia, director of bands and associate professor of music.

Additional principal players include Ger Vang of Decatur (flutes/piccolo), Alexa Meimerstorf of Dardanelle (oboe/English horn), Carey Brent James of Dover (bassoons), Mady Thurman of Greenwood (Eb and Bb clarinets), Jordan Ladyman of Searcy (low clarinets), David Slutsky of Bentonville (horns), Zach Brown of Hot Springs (trumpets), Alex Evans of Hot Springs (trombones), Jamie Williams of Mountain Home (euphoniums), Justin Baggett of Van Buren (tubas), Taylor Cotroneo of Hot Springs (percussion) and Brett Kelley of Russellville (contrabass).
