Sweetnam Leads Suns to Runner-Up Finish

Elizabeth Sweetnam posted two sub-80 rounds to lead the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns to a second-place finish among an eight-team field in the Bison Fall Classic at River Oaks Golf Course in Searcy on Monday and Tuesday.

Sweetnam (photographed) shot 78-79 for a 36-hole total of 157. She finished third, six strokes behind tournament champion Whitney Ohlhausen of Harding.

Ohlhausen shot 75-76 to post 151 and win by one stroke over her teammate, Soyum Kim (75-77-152).

Alyssia Duvall (T-8th, 77-84-161), Kyla McIsaac (T-10th, 83-79-162), Ana Morales (T-10th, 81-81-162) and Niki Possage (22nd, 87-88-175) also contributed to the Golden Suns’ team score.

Arkansas Tech’s Megan Kelley (T-25th, 91-87-178) and Tristan Rettig (31st, 92-93-185) competed as individuals.

The Golden Suns returned team scores of 319 and 323 for a 642 total. Harding (309-311-620) won the tournament by 22 strokes.

Arkansas Tech’s next women’s golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 4-5 at the University of Central Oklahoma Broncho Classic in Edmond, Okla.
