Super Saturday: Tech Plays in GAC Semifinals

Since Arkansas Tech became eligible for NCAA postseason play, every year that it has sent a team to a conference tournament, either the Golden Suns, the Wonder Boys or both have reached the championship round. Below is a break down of Arkansas Tech basketball teams that have reached conference tournament championship games during the institution's NCAA Division II era: Gulf South Conference 1998 - Golden Suns (won) 1999 - Golden Suns 2000 - Golden Suns 2001 - Golden Suns 2002 - Golden Suns 2003 - Golden Suns (won) 2004 through 2006 - Did not qualify for conference tournament 2007 - Golden Suns 2008 - Golden Suns 2009 - Wonder Boys (won) 2010 - Golden Suns (won) and Wonder Boys (won) 2011 - Golden Suns (won) and Wonder Boys Great American Conference 2012 - Wonder Boys (won) The Golden Suns were 1-1 against ECU during the regular season. The Lady Tigers defeated Tech 67-62 in Ada, Okla., on Dec. 8, but Arkansas Tech evened the season series with a 78-63 victory over East Central at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville last Saturday. Saturday's GAC semifinal game will mark the first-ever postseason meeting between the Golden Suns and the Lady Tigers. The Wonder Boys were 2-0 against Southwestern Oklahoma State during the 2012-13 regular season and Tech has won its last six men's basketball meetings with the Bulldogs. Arkansas Tech defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State's men 69-58 in their only previous postseason men's basketball meeting --- the 2012 GAC Tournament championship game. The championship games for the 2013 GAC Tournament are scheduled for Sunday, March 10, at 1 p.m. (women) and 3:30 p.m. (men) at Bruin Fieldhouse in Bartlesville.
