Suns Top Drury in Straight Sets

Junior Sara Motsinger and senior Carly Florian both posted double-digit kills as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns swept to a 3-0 neutral-site win over Drury at Rhodes Field House in Searcy on Tuesday.

Arkansas Tech (4-1) relied on a balanced attack to beat Drury (4-1) as six different players recorded at least two kills in the match. Motsinger’s 13 kills on 20 attacks led the Golden Suns, as the junior posted a .500 hitting percentage for the match. Florian hit .346 with 12 kills on 26 swings.

Setter Amber Cerrillos finished with 44 assists. Freshman defensive specialist Morgan McKellar led all players with 14 digs. Motsinger and senior Brittany Ryan both posted three blocks in the winning effort.

The Golden Suns open the home portion of the schedule on Friday, Sept. 7, at 11:30 a.m. against Lindenwood in the Hampton Inn Arkansas Tech Spikefest at Tucker Coliseum.
