Suns to Shine on Arkadelphia This Week

Arkansas Tech’s volleyball team will get a double dose of the loveliest village on the Ouachita River this week.

The Golden Suns (19-4 overall, 4-1 Gulf South Conference) will travel to Arkadelphia on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match against the Henderson State Lady Reddies (11-8, 3-2) at the Duke Wells Center.

Forty-eight hours later, Arkansas Tech will be back in Arkadelphia to take on the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers (12-5, 1-4). Match time at the Sturgis Center is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Suns enter the week tied with Harding (9-8, 4-1) for second place in the GSC West Division. Christian Brothers (11-10, 5-1) is setting the pace in the GSC West.

Tuesday’s match will be the first meeting between the Golden Suns and the Lady Reddies this season. Tech has won four consecutive matches over HSU dating back to 2007.

Arkansas Tech already owns a victory over Ouachita Baptist this season. The Suns gave the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-15 decision in Russellville on Sept. 21.

Tech’s next home match is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 19, when the Suns will host Southern Arkansas for a 7 p.m. contest at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
