Suns T-2nd in First Golf Tournament of Fall

Arkansas Tech University posted a 36-hole team score of 625 to earn a share of second place among a field of 18 women’s golf teams at the 2016 Central Region Fall Preview in Olathe, Kan., on Monday and Tuesday.

The University of Central Oklahoma won the team title with a total of 611. Southwestern Oklahoma State University matched the Golden Suns’ cumulative score of 625 to tie for second.

Arkansas Tech’s Pia Nunbhakdi fired rounds of 74-76 to finish second in the individual standings with a 150 total.

Avery Struck (T-6th, 76-79-155), Caroline Fredensborg (T-11th, 79-77-156), Anna Frandsen (T-35th, 83-81-164) and Laura Gallizo (T-50th, 87-82-169) also competed for the Golden Suns in Olathe.

The individual title went to Missouri Western State University’s Shi Qing Ong. She returned scores of 76-73 to edge out Tech’s Nunbhakdi by a single shot.

The Golden Suns will compete in the University of Indianapolis Invitational in Carmel, Ind., on Monday, Sept. 12, and Tuesday, Sept. 13.
