Suns Stop SAU in Straight Sets

Laura Farney notched 14 kills and Sara Motsinger recorded 13 kills to lead the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns to a 25-11, 25-20, 25-21 Great American Conference victory over the Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders on Tuesday night at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

The Golden Suns (27-3 overall, 11-0 GAC) picked up their 19th consecutive win at home and their 10th straight victory overall as they maintained sole possession of first place in the GAC volleyball standings with five regular season league matches remaining.

Carly Florian (photographed) made nine kills, Amber Cerrillos had 36 assists and nine digs and Brittany Ryan recorded six blocks for Arkansas Tech.

The Golden Suns finished with a .344 team hitting percentage (44 kills, 11 attack errors, 96 attempts), compared to Southern Arkansas’ .091 team hitting percentage (31 kills, 22 attack errors, 99 attempts).

Jordan White and Courtney Smith registered eight kills apiece for Southern Arkansas (15-11, 6-5).

Arkansas Tech will host Arkansas-Monticello for a 7 p.m. GAC match at Tucker Coliseum on Thursday, Oct. 20. No admission will be charged.
