Game One: UAH 3, Arkansas Tech 2 Tyler Harrison struck out 10 Arkansas Tech batters to lead Alabama-Huntsville to a 3-2 win in Wednesday’s first game. Harrison (13-2) limited the Golden Suns to two runs on three hits over seven innings. Arkansas Tech starting pitcher Morgan Vaughan (9-5) also went the distance in the circle. She allowed three runs, one of which was earned, on six hits. Of the 18 outs Vaughan recorded in six innings of work, 14 came via ground outs. The Golden Suns were charged with five errors in the loss. Game Two: Arkansas Tech 6, UAH 5 Jalissa Gum scored what proved to be the winning run in the top of the eighth inning and Arkansas Tech registered a come-from-behind, extra-inning 6-5 victory over Alabama-Huntsville in the nightcap on Wednesday. The Chargers (36-10) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and maintained the lead until solo home runs by Ashley Anderson and Alicia Lowrey in the top of the seventh allowed the Golden Suns to tie the score at 5-5. Gum scored on a UAH throwing error in the top of the eighth to put Tech in front 6-5, and Vaughan retired the Chargers in order in the bottom of the eighth to end the game. Anderson was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in. Whitney Robinson added two base hits for Arkansas Tech. Vaughan (10-5) provided the Golden Suns with one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief to earn the win in the circle. UAH reliever Emily Glover (7-5) was charged with two runs, one of which was earned, on three hits in two innings.]]>
