Arkansas Tech University’s Rosie Silva is among 16 NCAA Division II women’s basketball players from across the United States named to the 2012-13 Division II Bulletin preseason All-America team.
Division II Bulletin is a national publication that has covered NCAA Division II basketball since 1991.
Silva is a senior guard from Caracas, Venezuela. She averaged 13.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 4.8 steals per game in her first season with the Golden Suns in 2011-12.
The GAC defender of the year and a first team All-GAC selection a season ago, Silva led the conference in assists and steals in 2011-12. She established a new Arkansas Tech women’s basketball record for steals in a season with 126.
Silva led NCAA Division II women’s basketball in steals per game and ranked third in the nation in assists per game as a junior.
Arkansas Tech’s women’s basketball program was 22-4 overall and regular season champion of the Great American Conference in 2011-12.
The Golden Suns will open practice for the 2012-13 season on Monday, Oct. 15.
Arkansas Tech will commence its 36th season of intercollegiate women’s basketball on Nov. 13 with a home game against Christian Brothers University. Head coach Dave Wilbers, who is beginning his sixth season at Arkansas Tech, has a career record of 128-25.
