Suns In The Hunt at GSC Championships

Arkansas Tech is just one stroke off the lead going into the second and final round of the 2011 Gulf South Conference Women’s Golf Championships at Hot Springs Country Club.

The Golden Suns posted a team score of 326 during the opening round on Sunday. Harding University shot 325 on Sunday to take the lead at the midpoint of the tournament.

West Georgia (3rd, 328) and five-time defending champion West Florida (4th, 329) are also among four teams within four shots of the lead going into today’s (Monday, April 18) final round.

Arkansas Tech was led on day one by Kyla McIsaac (photographed). She returned a score of 80 and is in fifth place in the individual standings.

Amanda Martin of Christian Brothers and Harding’s Soyun Kim share the first-round lead. They both shot 77 on Sunday.

Arkansas Tech is also represented in Hot Springs by (first-round score in parentheses): Ana Morales (81), Elizabeth Sweetnam (81), Niki Possage (84) and Alyssia DuVall (85).
