Suns Improve to 18-2 at Home This Season

Game One: Arkansas Tech 5, OBU 3 Four Ouachita Baptist errors helped pave the way to a 5-3 Arkansas Tech victory in Friday’s first contest. Two of those OBU defensive miscues came in the bottom of the sixth inning, allowing the Golden Suns to score three runs and increase their lead to 5-1. The Tigers made it interesting in the top of the seventh and final inning behind Emily Acuna’s two-out, two-run home run. Arkansas Tech relief pitcher stopped any thoughts of an OBU comeback there by inducing a game-ending ground out by Ashley Davis. Sydnee Clark (9-3) started in the circle for the Golden Suns and limited the Tigers to one run on four hits over six innings. OBU starting pitcher Macy Nantz (4-11) allowed five runs, two of which were earned, on seven hits in six innings. Game Two: Arkansas Tech 7, OBU 2 Shanna Davidson and Ashley Savage both went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead Arkansas Tech to a 7-2 win over Ouachita Baptist in the nightcap on Friday. Davidson broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. It was her ninth home run of the season and the 62nd homer of the season for the Golden Suns, who rank fourth in NCAA Division II in home runs per game. Arkansas Tech led the rest of the way. Tech starting pitcher Victoria Huie (10-4) allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings. Morgan Vaughan came out of the bullpen and retired all seven Tigers she faced to earn her second save of the season. Ouachita Baptist starting pitcher Delaney Bedunah (5-4) surrendered four runs on five hits in four and two-thirds innings.]]>
