Arkansas Tech closed out its portion of the 2010 Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Classic in Denton, Texas, by winning two matches on Saturday.
The Golden Suns (3-1) rolled past East Stroudsburg 25-12, 25-16, 25-13 on Saturday morning. Brennae Benda (photographed) had 18 digs and five service aces in the shutout victory.
Northwest Nazarene provided the Suns with a much tougher challenge, but Tech came from behind to register a 25-19, 19-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-9 win over the Crusaders.
Arkansas Tech’s Laura Farney had 17 kills and 20 digs, while Sarah Von Lienen made 16 kills and seven blocks. Kera Dukic added 53 assists and Marcela Mascarenhas contributed 19 digs.
The Golden Suns will continue a season-opening road trip on Monday with a match against East Central University in Ada, Okla. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
