Arkansas Tech University left no room for doubt in securing two wins on its final day at the Southeastern Regional Invitational softball classic in Durant, Okla., on Saturday.
The Golden Suns (3-1) will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 8, and Friday, Feb. 9, at the UAM D-2 Softball Challenge in Bentonville.
Game One: Arkansas Tech 9, Central Missouri 1
Arkansas Tech’s Paty Loredo hit a home run and recorded five runs batted in during a 9-1 Golden Suns’ victory over the University of Central Missouri on Saturday morning.
Janie Knowles, Makenzie Addis, Paige Mendoza and Sydnie Henson added one RBI apiece for Tech.
Cara Tolar (1-1) started in the circle for the Golden Suns and limited the Jennies to one run on five hits in five innings. Bailey Shaffer recorded the final three outs in what was a mercy rule-shortened victory.
Game Two: Arkansas Tech 7, Oklahoma Christian 1
Kristen Dempsey pitched five shutout innings to help Arkansas Tech down Oklahoma Christian University 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Dempsey (2-0) allowed three hits and struck out two before giving way to Megan Goodnight, who was charged with one run on three hits over two innings of relief.
Loredo and Mendoza notched two RBIs apiece for the Golden Suns. Addis and Sarah Coronado both drove in one run. Bailey Bunch went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
