Newcomer Cheryl Nolan led the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns to a third-place finish in the Tech Twilight Run outside Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Friday evening.
Nolan (photographed) covered the 2-mile course in 11 minutesĀ and 49.65 seconds to finish third in the individual standings. Arkansas State’s Kristina Aubert won the meet with a time of 11:18.41, while Logan Waites of Ole Miss (11:25.44) finished second.
Arkansas State accumulated 37 points to win the meet. Ole Miss was second with 46 points, Arkansas Tech piled up 61 points to finish third and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock was fourth with 79 points.
University of the Ozarks and Hendrix College also competed in the meet.
Nolan’s third-place finish against a field stacked with NCAA Division I runners came in her Arkansas Tech debut. She is a freshman from Carlow, Ireland.
Tech’s Bailee Miller finished seventh after posting a time of 11:56.56.
Michelle Pollreis (13th, 12:08.41), Kaitlin Bounds (14th, 12:09.29), Lauren Karnitz (24th, 13:30.88), Ashley Perisho (27th, 13:43.22) and Amanda Bradbury (29th, 14:01.45) also ran for the Golden Suns on Friday.
Tech will run in the UALR Invitational on Friday, Sept. 9, at Rebsamen Park Golf Course in Little Rock.
