Suns Finish 15th in Memphis Twilight

Arkansas Tech earned a spot in the top half of a field crowded with NCAA Division I members at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday.

The Golden Suns accumulated 370 points to finish 15th among 32 teams.

Arkansas Tech finished in front of such NCAA Division I members as the University of Memphis, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, the University of Tennessee at Martin and Austin Peay State University.

Cheryl Nolan (photographed) was the Suns’ top individual finisher. She covered the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 37.68 seconds to earn 27th place in a field of 256 runners.

Nolan was named Gulf South Conference cross country runner of the week in recognition of her performance.

Michelle Pollreis (31st, 18:40.86), Kaitlin Bounds (71st, 19:22.52), Lauren Karnitz (133rd, 20:33.46) and Ashley Perisho (141st, 20:39.44) also represented Arkansas Tech in the event.

The Golden Suns will head to Kentucky for the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 2.
