Suns Fall in Volleyball Season Opener

A match-up of nationally-ranked volleyball teams went to the University of Central Missouri when the Jennies defeated Arkansas Tech University 26-28, 25-21, 25-16, 35-33 during the Peggy Martin Challenge at Warrensburg, Mo., on Friday afternoon.

No. 22 Central Missouri finished with a team hitting percentage of .198 (68 kills, 29 errors, 197 total attempts), compared to a .174 team hitting percentage for No. 14 Arkansas Tech (52 kills, 22 errors, 172 total attempts).

Three Golden Suns reached double figures in kills, led by Lexie Johnston with 12. Hunter Eshnaur and Allie Anderson made 11 kills apiece.

Tech’s Amanda Milnick notched 37 assists and 15 digs, while Eshnaur finished with 20 digs.

The Golden Suns (0-1) will face Missouri Southern State University in further action at the Peggy Martin Challenge beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.
