Arkansas Tech University clinched at least a share of the 12th regular season volleyball conference championship in school history on Thursday night with a 25-16, 26-24, 25-22 victory over Southern Arkansas University in Great American Conference action at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.
The Golden Suns (24-5 overall, 14-0 GAC) earned their 18th consecutive win behind 11 kills from Katie Huff and 10 kills apiece by Hunter Eshnaur, Kaci Jackson and McCall Wilkins.
Sarita Stegall made 38 assists for Arkansas Tech, while Madison Nagel recorded 16 digs. Jackson (13 digs) and Eshnaur (11 digs) also made contributions to the Golden Suns’ back row defense.
Arkansas Tech has previously won regular season conference volleyball titles in the Arkansas Intercollegiate Conference (1983, 1984, 1985, 1987), the Gulf South Conference West Division (1997, 1999, 2000, 2008, 2010) and the GAC (2011 and 2014).
The Golden Suns will have an opportunity to clinch the 2015 GAC title outright on Tuesday, Nov. 10, when they visit Harding University for a 6 p.m. match in Searcy.
