Suns Move Into Share of First Place

Three Arkansas Tech players reached double figures in kills in a 25-23, 25-13, 21-25, 26-24 Golden Suns’ victory over the Henderson State Lady Reddies in Gulf South Conference volleyball at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia on Tuesday night.

Sarah Von Lienen made 17 kills, Laura Farney had 12 kills and 14 digs and Ashlynn Hamrick hammered 12 kills as Arkansas Tech (20-4 overall, 5-1 GSC) clinched its sixth consecutive 20-win volleyball season.

More importantly, the victory allowed the Golden Suns to pull into a three-way tie for first place in the GSC West Division with Christian Brothers and Harding.

Brennae Benda (photographed, right) had 21 digs and Marcela Mascarenhas (photographed, left) notched four service aces and 11 digs in the victory.

Kera Dukic added 51 assists and seven digs to help Arkansas Tech post its fifth consecutive win over Henderson State dating back to 2007.

Robin Law led the Lady Reddies (11-9, 3-3) with 20 kills and 18 digs.

The Golden Suns will return to Arkadelphia on Thursday for a 7 p.m. GSC match at Ouachita Baptist.
