Suns Achieve Highest Ranking of 2016-17

Arkansas Tech University continued its climb upward in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II top 25 poll on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The Golden Suns (7-1 overall, 3-1 Great American Conference) advanced two positions to No. 13 in the latest poll.

It is the highest ranking of the 2016-17 season for Arkansas Tech, and its highest position in the WBCA poll since it was ranked No. 12 entering the 2016 NCAA Division II Tournament.

Head coach Dave Wilbers and the Golden Suns have won six consecutive games.

Arkansas Tech will return to women’s basketball action when it hosts Southeastern Oklahoma State University for a 5:30 p.m. GAC contest at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Thursday, Jan. 5. A men’s basketball game between Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma State will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets ($5 adults/$3 students and senior citizens) will be available at the door. Those with a valid Arkansas Tech identification card will be admitted free of charge.
