Area athletes will have the opportunity to learn more about a variety of sports by attending several summer camps this week.
The final women’s basketball camp for the summer is a shooting camp that begins today. The camp is for students in grades 3-12, and it costs $75. The two-day camp will focus on a variety of fundamentals including shooting, 3-point shooting, guard/post moves and one-on-one moves.
At the conclusion of the camp, an awards ceremony is slated for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker Coliseum.
The men’s basketball team will also host the second session of an individual camp. The camp runs July 25-27. The camp consists of both a morning session and an afternoon session. The cost to attend either the morning or afternoon session is $75, and the cost to attend both the morning and afternoon session is $125. During the camp, the students will work on a variety of skills.
Arkansas Tech will also hosts its first summer softball camp on Wednesday. The intermediate camp features both a morning and afternoon session. During the camp, the morning session will focus on defense and hitting, and the afternoon sessions will emphasize pitching and catching. The camp cost is $50 per session or $70 for both the morning and afternoon session. The camp is open to those ages 7-13.
