Area youngsters interested in learning more about athletics will have the opportunity to attend several camps this summer at Arkansas Tech University. The first round of camps begin this week.
Camps taking place this week include the Lil’ Suns Volleyball Camp and the Senior Elite Exposure Baseball Camp.
The Lil’ Suns Volleyball Camp is open to students who have completed the first through the fifth grade. Those attending the camp will learn basic volleyball skills. The cost of the camp is $50 and will run from 6-8 p.m. tonight and tomorrow. Registration will take place beginning at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
The Senior Elite Exposure Baseball Camp begins tomorrow. The two-day camp is open to 2012 and 2013 high school graduates.
The camp will feature a skills showcase on Wednesday morning, and Wednesday afternoon attendees will receive instruction and take part in several baseball games. During the second day of the camp, those in attendance will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in both their primary and secondary position.
Head baseball coach Dave Dawson says the showcase and games have been promoted to other college coaches, and he expects approximately 20 college programs to attend. The cost to attend the camp is $75.
