Landon Sullins was named Gulf South Conference West Division baseball player of the week by the league office on Tuesday, March 29.
Sullins (photographed) was 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a non-conference game against Central Oklahoma on March 22, but he saved his best work for the weekend GSC series against Arkansas-Monticello.
The junior first baseman from Valley Springs blistered the Boll Weevils for 10 hits in 12 at-bats, a batting average of .833.
Sullins hit a home run, drove in five runs and scored six runs as the Wonder Boys (18-11 overall, 6-0 GSC) swept a three-game set from Arkansas-Monticello and moved into sole possession of first place in the GSC West Division.
The Wonder Boys will host defending GSC West Division champion Southern Arkansas for a three-game series at Tech Field in Russellville on Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3.
Saturday's doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast in the Arkansas River Valley by KCAB 980 AM.
