Students Visit Tech for Low Brass Day

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music hosted high school and junior high school trombone, tuba and euphonium players from four school districts for its 2012 Low Brass Day at Witherspoon Hall on Nov. 10.

The Arkansas Tech University Department of Music hosted high school and junior high school trombone, tuba and euphonium players from four school districts for its 2012 Low Brass Day at Witherspoon Hall on Nov. 10.

A total of 20 students from Dover, Farmington, Hector and Midland attended the event, which was organized by Dr. Sean Reed, assistant professor of music at Arkansas Tech, and Marcus Wiggins, adjunct instructor of music at Arkansas Tech.

Participants in the one-day clinic and their music teachers took part in interactive presentations on brass technique and pedagogy.

The day concluded with a low brass performance and an appearance by the Arkansas Tech Trombone Choir. 

Arkansas native Dr. Kevin Sanders, assistant professor of tuba and euphonium at the University of Memphis, was on hand as a special guest artist.
