Students Take Part in Rollin' Round the Rim

Numerous students at Arkansas Tech are taking part in the annual Rollin’ Round the Rim wheelchair basketball tournament.

The double elimination tournament began Friday morning at 10 a.m., and the tournament champion will earn the right to face off against the Rollin’ Razorbacks basketball team Friday evening around 5 p.m.

The Rollin’ Razorbacks are one of the top wheelchair basketball teams in the state, and they have qualified for the Arkansas Valley Conference Final Four 19 times since 1988.

The annual tournament is designed to raise awareness about the challenges those with disabilities face on a daily basis.

The tournament costs $30 per team, and the funds raised during the tournament will be used to purchase assistive technology to help better serve Arkansas Tech students with disabilities.

Last year a total of 40 teams from across the state took part in the tournament, and organizers say they hope to see even more teams participate this year.
