The Arkansas Tech University Division of Student Services honored students, faculty and staff for their contributions to the activities beyond the classroom that enriched life on campus during the 2017-18 academic year with an awards and recognition program at Tucker Coliseum on Tuesday, April 24.
Top award winners included senior Matthew Smith of Hermitage, who captured the Green and Gold Spirit Award, and Jenny Butler, assistant director of campus life, who garnered the Cupola Award for going “above and beyond to deliver the highest standard of service for students.”
Smith was also presented with the student organization president of the year award. He served as president of Student Government Association during the 2017-18 academic year.
Because We Can won outstanding student organization of the year, and it took the community service project of the year prize in recognition of the Green and Gold Cupboard.
Aaron Collier of Charleston was chosen as student organization member of the year for his service to the Presidential Leadership Cabinet, and Dr. William Hoefler, who advises the ATU Agri Club, was named outstanding faculty/staff advisor of the year.
Dr. Shellie Hanna, associate professor of curriculum and instruction in the ATU College of Education, was recognized as ATU professor of the year.
ATU students Marlie Ball, Cayce Baxter, Mollie Brewer, Alissa Clark, Hanna Colvin, Aaron Gilkey, Megan Hand, Allison Holloway, Blake Hurley Tiffini Jarvis, Carlos Lopez, Jessica Lyons, Marcus Majied, Brooke Miller, Collin Moore, Sierra Pisciotta, Matthew Smith, Christopher Sullivan, Tyler Tober, Kaitlyn Tran and Lantwan Traylor earned the Service Excellence Award for logging 100 or more community service hours through theLINK during the 2017-18 academic year.
