Arkansas Tech University students will be able to take part in several activities as part of an alcohol awareness week planned at Arkansas Tech.

OkSOBERfest will take place October 22-25 and sponsored is by Student Services and SAB. As part of the week, there are activities planned each day to help educate students on the effects of alcohol.

Graduate Assistant, Justine Tozer said the activities for OkSOBERfest were designed to be fun for students but also educational and informative.

“These events were chosen to entertain students while also educating them about the issues college students face in regards to alcohol,” said Tozer. “Nationally, 42% of full-time college students report binge drinking. In Arkansas alone in 2010, over 8600 people were arrested for driving under the influence, and 173 people died in accidents due to an alcohol impaired driver. This just briefly touches on the severity of problems related to alcohol on college campuses.”
